Step Back in Time with The Grand Arcade! OHC goes Victorian for a day of Heritage fun!

Claire Riley and Natalie Entwistle

Out in the Arcade itself will be an exhibition of ‘The Grand Arcade Through the Ages’, telling you a little of the history of our Arcade, it’s rise and fall and regeneration.OHC is going Victorian for Heritage Open Days and it’s going to be Grand!

We do love an excuse to dress up and have some fun here at OHC, and next Saturday is no exception…. It’s the Heritage Open Days Weekend in conjunction with National Trust and English Heritage – and we’re getting involved again in true OHC style!

Join us for a day of Victorian fun, with Urban Magpie’s ‘Pop Up Bespoke Button Bling Boutique’, where you can rummage through her extensive vintage button collection to choose the perfect ones to make your own button rings – or have Zoe make them for you if you’re not feeling very creative! Be sure to listen for the fabulous Roll Call Zoe has prepared (and we’re assured will be delivered in the style of a Victorian Freak Show Ringmaster /Gypsy Fortune Teller – we’ve heard it and it’s EXCELLENT, we can’t wait!)

You can also meet the lovely Ruth of Dollop&Stir and have a vintage spoon stamped with your own personal message to give as a gorgeous gift to someone, or just to treat yourself (other cutlery also available!)

Our very own Co-founder Claire will once again be delivering Behind the Scenes Tours of our WM Potts Clock, telling you a little about the history of the clock and allowing you access to view some of the fabled mechanism. Tours will take place at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm (meet outside the shop just before the hour).

Our neighbours at Just Grand! Vintage Tearooms are also joining in the festivities with a ‘Step Back In Time’ experience – the staff will be dressed up, there will be traditional Victorian fayre on the menu and a fabulous slide show of the Arcade over the years!

Out in the Arcade itself will be an exhibition of ‘The Grand Arcade Through the Ages’, telling you a little of the history of our Arcade, it’s rise and fall and regeneration.  And, if you dig out your finest Victorian attire and don your flat caps and you’ll win a participation prize too (well, we can’t be the only ones who like to dress up surely?!)

And as if all that wasn’t enough, we’re also very proud to be collaborating with Leeds Back In The Day once again! We’re sponsoring (and retailing) their 2017 Calendar and we’re super excited to be hosting the Exclusive Launch Event as part of our Heritage Open Days celebrations!  Shhhh, here’s a sneak peek of the front cover….
